Our Story:
Rooted in the Community

From Local Fundraisers to Your Dinner Table

Our journey began right here at home, supporting the Davis Senior High FFA (Future Farmers of America). Over two years, our family donated and cooked close to 600 servings of our unique red rice for local fundraisers.

The response was overwhelming. Community members—including former United States Senator Lois Wolk—began asking where they could purchase it for their own kitchens. Recognizing this local demand, DeWit Family Farms was born. We are proud to be a truly local brand dedicated to bringing unique, sophisticated, and locally grown, harvested, processed, and packaged cuisine to our community.

The Story of our Riz Rouge Camargue

A Legacy of Flavor, Heritage, and Health

In the early 2000s, my late father-in-law, Jack DeWit—a proud 1963 UC Davis agricultural graduate and former Aggie football player—traveled to Southern France on a mission. He was searching for a very specific, tiny, round rice grain known for its beautiful color and uniquely sweet, nutty flavor.

He brought that seed home to California, and over the next 20 years, Jack and his team dedicated themselves to cultivating it. They successfully crossed this heritage grain from the French Camargue region with our premium Northern California medium-grain sushi rice. Today, Riz Rouge Camargue is proudly grown right here in Sacramento County at DeWit Farms.

A Nutritional Powerhouse

Our Riz Rouge Camargue isn't just brilliant in color and versatile in texture; it is grown and milled with the full hull intact. This means every serving retains its maximum nutritional value, offering exceptional benefits for both digestive and brain health.

The striking red hue of the hull is completely natural and packed with a powerful profile of flavonoid antioxidants, including apigenin, myricetin, quercetin, and anthocyanin.
